💛 Blank pages 💛
.
Writing in a journal can help so much with processing thoughts or feelings. It is a very grounding practice and just fun to read things back afterwards. To truly see the progress.
.
I write a lot during the journeys I make. Which are physical journeys (this was an hours-long train ride in India), but also the journeys in my meditations. I love to do this.
.
We create meaning by telling ourselves and the people in our surroundings stories. Stories about what we do, who we are or what we believe.
.
Eventually that determines our identity and sense of belonging.
.
But what do you do when the pages are blank? Or what happens if that what you write down doesn't have any meaning anymore?
.
Yes, there are moments when everything doesn't make sense. When there is no motivation to write it down or to capture it. And that is completely fine.
.
We unlearned to value this blank space, to understand that sometimes something just is. That there is no story involved. No need for something to make sense.
.
So often we say: oh, you must be depressed. You can't make meaning anymore. And please if you truly feel stuck or depressed and if it is the right path for you, go and visit a doctor.
.
Eckhart Tolle calls it 'deep rest, instead of depressed. The meaning just depends on the way you write it down 😉😘
